Fulfilling the Oilfield Industry needs
Chammas Plasma Cutter
Chammas Plasma Cutter
Having the right tools and wealth of pipe recovery expertise in your back pocket better prepares you for the unexpected in the oilfield. Quickly addressing rig time loss is just as crucial when encountering stuck pipe issues.
Be equipped with the Chammas Plasma Cutter (CPC) to help alleviate any downhole stuck pipe problems. Chammas Plasma Cutters, LLC strives to provide customers with excellent products at competitive pricing. With over 100 combined years of experience, we provide customers with the support necessary for guaranteed satisfaction through the combination of a dedicated technical team with the latest equipment and pioneering technology. We offer 24hr technical support with comprehensive training for field personnel regarding safety guidelines and technical applications.
Designed with varying well conditions in mind, the CPC provides wireline operators the assurance to deploy our tool in the harshest of well conditions. The CPC is rated to 15,000 psi & 400F. Chammas also offers a self-anchoring tool that can operate even when the tubing and annulus are not balanced. There are no moving parts in the Chammas plasma cutter, making our tool more reliable. Complex design yet simple assembly makes this product the ideal choice when cutting stuck pipe.
Plasma Cutter Work Process
Plasma Cutter in Action
Thermite is a pyrotechnic composed of powder metallurgy and metal oxide. When ignited by heat, thermite undergoes an exothermic reduction-oxidation (redox) reaction and can create brief bursts of heat and high temperature in a small area.
The chemical equation below is the reaction of iron (III) oxide and aluminum. This is a single replacement reduction-oxidation (redox) reaction. Because aluminum produces a stronger bond with oxygen, this equation yields aluminum oxide, iron, and great quantities of heat.
Fe2O3 + 2 Al → 2 Fe + Al2O3
- A cartridge heater/thermal generator is heated by applying current from surface that ignites the thermite igniter
- The flame of the ignitor causes the solid thermite pellets to burn
- The burning thermite raises the temperature and the pressure inside the tool
- The mixture of hot plasma (molten iron and aluminum oxide) is forced thru the internal orifices of the severing head and onto the deflector with intense heat and high pressure
5. The deflector directs the hot plasma (6,000 deg F) toward the internal diameter of the tubing and cuts it instantaneously
