Recently, two of our customers successfully executed field cuts using undersized plasma cutters, demonstrating the efficiency and precision of our tools.
Cut #1: Cutting 5″ Drill Pipe with a 2.5″ Plasma Cutter One of our customers needed to cut through 5” 19.5ppf DP with a 2.75” TJ ID. They utilized a 2.5” undersized plasma cutter, effectively cutting under the following conditions- 4800 psi, 10.3 OBM environment. Additionally, our Electric Anchor System (EAS) was used to ensure stability and prevent tool movement during the operation. The tool performed flawlessly, ensuring a clean and efficient cut.
Cut #2: Cutting 5.5″ Casing at 800ft with a 2″ Plasma Cutter Another field application involved cutting 5.5” 26ppf csg at a depth of 800 feet. With a restriction of 2.441” ID, the operator successfully used a 2” undersized plasma cutter to execute the cut. The Electric Anchor System (EAS) was also deployed, eliminating the risk of movement especially that shallow of a cut. Despite the depth and tight restriction, the cutter delivered a precise result, further proving its reliability in restricted ID applications.
These field results reinforce the effectiveness of our plasma cutting solutions in the oil and gas industry. Whether dealing with high-pressure environments, depth restrictions, or challenging ID limitations, our tools continue to perform with precision and efficiency.
